A Twitter user, @MALAYSIAVIRALLL, recently shared an incident about a Sri Lankan man who was hospitalised in Malaysia.

The tweet disclosed that the man was admitted to the hospital, but upon discharge, he got into an argument and refused to settle the bill.

It was also disclosed that the man visited the hospital for the second time to undergo a procedure, yet he continued to refuse payment.

The tweet reads,

“Last Saturday, he was admitted for another procedure. Who’s paying the bill then? It’s covered by the taxes of the Malaysian people.”

It is mentioned that the Sri Lankan man’s family present at the time were using high-end phones and Apple watches, suggesting that they could genuinely afford to cover the hospital bill but still chose not to.

Within the thread, the outraged user shared an additional tweet that says,

“If this issue goes viral to the Minister of Health, you can ask the Minister of Health himself to explain how much of the tax money you pay is used to cover essential health bills. Guaranteed, you will be surprised.”

This incident has garnered considerable attention online, and netizens are expressing outrage over the man’s action.

“This man is ridiculous. If it were me, I would have called the police, made a report, and refused to let the patient back into the hospital. If only people knew how difficult it is for them to return to their country once they’ve been admitted here.”

“What? He got admitted twice already. That’s crossing the line.”

“For foreigners, we should implement a strict rule: if you don’t pay, you won’t get treated. They should be required to pay a minimum deposit of RM500, similar to what Malaysians have to do when visiting a private hospital.”
