A standard 2 student at a school in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, was left with multiple injuries after he was allegedly beaten up by several schoolmates on July 30.

According to Sinar Harian, the boy ended up with a broken nose and a fractured bone near his eye from the attack.

“I never thought it would get this bad”

The victim’s mother, Rifka Amelia Bustomi Sofian, said she knew something was wrong when her son came home around 4 PM with a bloody nose and bruises all over his face.

The 37-year-old rushed him to a private clinic, where an X-ray confirmed his nose was broken.

“My son had told me before that he was often bullied, but I never thought it would get this bad. A group of students attacked him, some held his arms so he couldn’t run, others shoved and punched him in the face until he fell, breaking his nose and fracturing the bone near his eye,” she said.

The clinic advised her to lodge a police report and take him to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) for further treatment.

It wasn’t the first time her son got hurt at school

Rifka believes the attack happened after her son switched classes during a Quran and Fardhu Ain (KAFA) lesson.

According to her, this wasn’t the first time her son was hurt at school. She recalled that back in June, he was injured when another student threw a rock at him.

“It just so happened my son was from another class and was sitting in with that one. I was told he had damaged a table cover in the classroom before several students beat him up. Some of them we couldn’t even identify because they were from other classes. For the damaged table cover, I already paid RM15 to replace it,” she explained.

She admitted she didn’t make a police report the first time, but this time she’s determined to take legal action.

“I don’t want any other children to go through what my son has gone through. I’ve heard of many similar cases happening at this school. Some parents have met and texted me to apologise, but I understand there are still students involved who haven’t faced any consequences yet,” she said.

Meanwhile, Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor, confirmed they’ve received a report about the incident.

“Early investigations suggest it all started from some teasing. The case has since been referred to the school management and the District Education Office (PPD),” he said.
