Sipping on a pint of cold beer at the end of the day is the simplest yet most rewarding enjoyment for beer lovers. However, they might have to fork out a little bit more in the near future as the prices of beer are about to be increased between 0 per cent and 5 per cent starting 1 April 2019.
According to The Edge Markets, Heineken Malaysia Bhd and Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd have clarified in their respective statements that the price hike was due to the continuous increase of prices of raw materials and packaging.
“The decision to adjust prices is made after careful consideration of various factors, primarily due to the significant increase in costs of raw materials and packaging materials, resulting from the rise of global commodity prices,” Heineken managing director Roland Bala told The Edge Financial Daily.

Having said that, Heineken has reassured consumers that most of the products will experience price adjustments of between 0 per cent and 5 per cent and that the brewer is trying their best to keep the impact of price adjustment to the minimum. Thank you!
Meanwhile, Carlsberg addressed the issue by saying,
“We are mindful that taking a price hike under the current tough trading environment is challenging for all parties, hence we have tried to absorb as much inflation in our cost of goods and only taking a minimum price adjustment.”
