If you feel like going to the National Registration Department (JPN) for official business is very troublesome then you’ll be glad to know that they are going to allow online applications for several services in 2020! Director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh has confirmed that they will introduce a few online services pretty soon.
In a report by NST, he said that these services include applications for birth certificates, retrieval of birth certificates, 12-year-old MyKad applications, retrieval of MyKads and marriage registrations for non-Muslims. Instead of making the long trek to your nearest JPN office and queuing for ages, you can now do perform all these processes in the comfort of your own home.
However, you will still need to head over to JPN offices to collect the documents. Once they are ready, you will also need to bring the original documents for verification before you’re allowed to take the documents that you have applied for.
“In line with the advancement in technology, JPN is also taking a step forward to improve and enhance services provided to the people,” he said at the 2019 National Registration Department’s Day celebration in Putrajaya. In addition, there will be a new system for the automatic registration of deaths which means once the police have confirmed a death on their records, it will automatically be reflected in JPN’s database.
Currently, JPN only allows online application for replacement of MyKad, but Ruslin says that they want to improve their services for the people and reduce waiting time at their counters. That would be awesome! JPN will also be improving its standard operating procedures (SOP) so that the integrity of the issuance of personal identification documents is maintained and there are lesser cases of abuse of power.
That sounds really convenient for us!
