The Indonesian island of Bali is one of the most beautiful places on Earth and a popular global tourist destination, even among Malaysians.

However, if you’re planning to visit the island next year, make sure to prepare extra Rupiah banknotes as Bali will be imposing an Rp150,000 or approximately RM46 levy on foreign tourists starting February 2024.

Tjok added that the levy must be paid before or at the time of arrival, with the rest of the regulation’s details still being ironed out.

In case you’re wondering what funds from the levy will go toward, Tjok revealed that they will be used to conserve coral reefs, mangroves and other sustainable projects on the island.
