Study: Maybank Ranks in 3rd Place as the Biggest Company in Each Southeast Asian Country

Maybank Group, also known as Malayan Banking Berhad, is Malaysia’s top dog in financial services and banking. Offering everything from consumer and corporate banking to insurance and asset management.

Because of this, Maybank has placed us in 3rd place as Southeast Asia’s Largest Company by market capitalisation in 2024, according to updates shared by @seasia.stats.

Most valuable companies in each Southeast Asian country

Based on the data collected by Companiesmarketcap.com and the stock exchanges of Laos and Yangon, Seasia Stats has compiled a list of the most valuable companies in each Southeast Asian country.

The data gathered was determined by their market capitalisation in current US dollars as of April 18, 2024.

Bank Central Asia (Indonesia) and DBS Group (Singapore) have clinched the 1st and 2nd spots, with respective values of US$73 billion and US$69 billion.

Maybank earns a value of US$28 billion!

Maybank has secured our position in 3rd place with a market capitalization of US$28 billion. Thailand’s PTT follows closely in 4th place with US$27 billion, while Vietcombank (Vietnam) and SM Investments (Philippines) claim the 5th and 6th spots, respectively, both earning US$20 billion.

Among Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, the largest companies by market capitalisation are all valued at $20 billion, and out of these 4, 2 of these are banks.

 

Here are the top 9 rankings for Southeast Asia’s Largest Company in the study:

1. Bank Central Asia (Indonesia) – US$73 billion

2. DBS Group (Singapore) -US$69 billion

3. Maybank (Malaysia) – US$28 billion

4. PTT (Thailand) – US$27 billion

5. Vietcombank (Vietnam) – US$20 billion

6. SM Investments (Philippines) – US$20 billion

7. Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (Cambodia) – US$1 billion

8. LALCO (Laos) – US$312 million

9. First Myanmar Investment (Myanmar) – US$139 million
