The usage of artificial intelligence (AI) has recently blown up in recent months with the launch of AI-based tools such as ChatGPT.

Although such tools are undoubtedly beneficial for businesses as they could help to save costs, the real worry is that AI will eventually make certain jobs completely redundant.

Recently, an Ipsos survey revealed that Malaysians are concerned about the impact of AI, with 62% believing that it will replace their current job entirely.

This is a huge jump over global averages, a mere 36%.

Their findings also showed that about 55% of Malaysians feel nervous about products and services using AI, whilst the global average on the issue was 52%.

However, 81% of Malaysians believe that AI will undoubtedly change how they do their job, similar to the Southeast Asian average of 78%.

Despite the worry that it’ll eventually take over our jobs, Southeast Asians and Malaysians believe that AI has more benefits than drawbacks, especially as it is expected to change their daily lives.

A whopping 70% of Malaysians trust companies that use AI as much as they trust other companies, whilst the Southeast Asian average ranks lower than the Malaysian percentile at 67%, while the global average falls even lower than that at 52%.
