Malaysia is known as a tropical paradise when it comes to our beaches and retreats. As a citizen of this beautiful country, I was unaware of the amazing luxury hotels it kept away and browsing through the images made me wish that I could rob a bank just to get a taste of its splendour.

This resort offers great services and accommodation. On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, over 86% of the guests that stayed in this resort gave it 4 stars and above on Trip Advisor. The resort aims to provide tranquility and privacy and does so by being situated close to the island’s jungle. You can choose from 3 types of accomodation, the Hill Villa, Sea Villa and Spa Villa.

The Damai is placed on a hillside within a 10 million year old rainforest, along with a breathtaking view of the Andaman Sea. This is an executive retreat where it offers four different types of accommodations; The Canopy Experience, The Rainforest Experience, The Beach Experience and The Villa Hutan Experience.

Located all the way in the East Coast, aka Terengganu, Tanjong Ara Resort is a good choice when it comes to mind and body rejuvenation. It’s unique feature is it’s Traditional Malay designs which is aimed at providing an authentic taste of the region’s spirit. The resort follows a philosophy that emphasises on purity of spirit, health and well-being.

4. The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat
Banjaran has one of the best spas, i mean, how could it not? It has a meditation cave AND thermal steam cave! Its rating is 8.4 over 10 on Agoda, with many happy guests sharing their review on their pleasant stay. It’s dining, Pomelo Restaurant serves only the freshest and healthiest of foods where the chef prepares the food a la minute. After a scrumptious dinner, you can savior rare wines in Jeff’s Cellar which is situated, well, also in a cave!

Macalister Mansion was built back in the early 1900s and it’s located in the heart of Georgetown, Penang. The mansion is named in honour of Sir Norman Macalister, one of the first British Governors of Penang which was then known as Prince of Wales Island. It is a restored colonial mansion with modern and chic designs, each different for the 8 rooms it has.

Set on one of Malaysia’s most beautiful beaches, Four Seasons always made sure to have their guests leaving satisfied. Their rating on Trip Advisor is currently at 91%! Many customers shared their reviews and complimented on the excellent service. One guest from Singapore even said, “I have never been wished ‘Happy Birthday’ by almost every member of staff at a hotel/resort before. I am truly impressed with the warm hospitality extended to all guests. Kudos.”

Grand Lexis is unique in a way that they have rooms with private pools and a square glass panel on the floor, as shown in the picture above, for guests to have a glimpse at the ocean, since the rooms are built standing over the sea. Though, it’s useless lah when it’s night time.

One which has been on my personal list for a very long time. Carcosa Seri Negara has its name derived from the two adjacent mansions, named Carcosa and Seri Negara, which housed Sir Frank Swettenham and the Governor of the Straits Settlements. Seri Negara also known as the King’s House, held receptions, formal balls and holiday celebrations back then. Carcosa Seri Negara was placed back into the hands of Malaysian Government in 1989, after Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s stay during the commonwealth nation’s meeting.
There are only 3 rooms to book from, two Stately Suites and one Grand Makmur Suite. So tough luck booking them on the weekends 🙁
