Family time is essential, but work is also crucial. Before taking on the heavy responsibility as the King, Sultan Johor announced that he would NOT be granting any audiences until January 31, 2024.

The matter was announced via his Facebook post yesterday (January 6), where Sultan Ibrahim Ismail decreed that His Majesty will no longer grant any audiences starting yesterday until the day he gets sworn in as Malaysia’s 17th Yang Dipertuan Agong.

However, His Majesty is not saying no to ALL appointments.

The Royal Press Office (RPO)  was told that events that had been fixed earlier would still be entertained, and the weekly audiences with the Johor Menteri Besar as well as the State Government would still carry on as usual.

“From today onwards (January 6), until I take my oath as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, I will not be accepting anymore requests for an audience with me.”

His Majesty then explained his reasonings, which were primarily due to the family time that he wished to spend before taking on the heavy task of leading the country.

“During this time, I wish to spend quality time with my family, before undertaking this enormous responsibility and trust.”

During a recent podcast with KJ, Sultan Johor’s son, TMJ, said that his father is a no-nonsense leader, hinting that a lot will be changed when his reign as the 17th YDP comes into effect, as well as possible tough times ahead for PMX.

We wish His Majesty all the best, and hopefully, he gets all the rest and time he needs before the responsibilities come knocking at the door.
