When traveling to other countries, we have no idea what the place has in store for us to discover and get used to. Some might even experience a culture shock, like what a Taiwanese content creator initially felt when he just reached Malaysia.
In his viral Xiao Hong Shu (RED) post by @鬍子大叔老K, the man was shocked at how fast many Malaysian drivers are going on the road. He had his way in describing what he felt about the scene on our roads.
“They drive like racers! There was a driver who drove a Toyota but it was as if he drove a Maserati!”
He also said he has seen drivers who go as fast as 120km/h on the road, which was shocking to him. The speed, however, was not the only thing he noticed about Malaysian drivers.
“Where’s your signal? It’s a big issue in Taiwan!”
The man also noticed that it is common for some Malaysian drivers to NOT use the indicators when changing lanes. He admitted to being fearful at 1st but thanks to the courtesy of his Malaysian friends, he slowly got used to it.
“I was told not to feel afraid because my friend knew the driver was going to change into our lane. I was afraid at first because I was not used to this!”
According to him, failure (or refusal) to turn on the indicator lights is a BIG thing in Taiwan. Drivers who don’t apply the indicator lights to good use on Taiwan roads will be reported! Can we do the same here? If you drive every day on the road, you’ll know how some drivers happily change lanes without doing what’s necessary.
Last but not least, the man highlighted about honking, but not the one you press do when you’re angry.
“Whenever I see a car close to me, I’ll honk as a warning. But my friends told me NOT to do so randomly because they’re scared.”
