Taiwanese Singer, A-Mei performed for a show at Axiata Arena last night (August 25) and she is set to perform again for Malaysian fans tonight (August 26) at the same place.

The Taiwanese singer kickstarted her show by greeting the Malaysian fans in the national language by saying,

Tuan-Tuan dan Puan Puan, saya A-Mei. Apa khabar semua? (Ladies & gentlemen, I’m A-Mei. How do you do?)”

While the show went on smoothly without any issues, A-Mei apparently skipped 1 of her most well known tracks – Rainbow. According to a report by Sin Chew, there are quite a number of prohibited items in A-Mei’s ASMR 2023 World Tour, including flags, regardless of its nature. In the picture below, a rainbow flag is used as an example, indicating the pride and LGBTQ movement flag.

Since A-Mei’s Rainbow is dedicated to those involved in same-sex love & marriage, it’s understandable why the song is skipped for her tour in Malaysia. However, she was not only prohibited from performing the song in Malaysia. Earlier this month, A-Mei had to replace “Rainbow” with another song when she was performing in China.

Well, each country has its set of rules which everyone is expected to follow, especially the foreigners who travel to another country. Fortunately, A-Mei happily abide by the rules by not performing “Rainbow” and waving the pride flag.

We certainly don’t want another “Matt Healy incident” which caused the Good Vibes Festival to be cancelled immediately.

To those who attended A-Mei’s concert last night, did you enjoy the show? Do you think it’s too much that she’s not allowed to perform “Rainbow”? In the meantime, you can watch and listen to the banned song below.
