You may want to watch out for this hawker if you like eating Taufu Fah in Sunway!
According to The Star, a Taufu Fah seller in Sunway City was caught washing used plastic bowls that were thrown away. Eww!
The seller was caught red-handed by Facebook user Selva Jai Raam who recorded the man washing a recyclable plastic bowl, which is believed to have been used by him, without any soap.
“Uncle, what are you doing? I’ve thrown the bowl, but I see you picked it up and re-washed it,” Selva asked the Taufu Fah seller.
Selva alleged that this isn’t the first time the seller has washed a used plastic bowl because he saw the seller doing it for the second time. In the video, the seller was also seen admitting to washing used plastic bowls multiple of times.
“There is no oil (on the bowl),” said the seller in defence.
During the confrontation, the seller told Selva that he dares to eat from the re-washed bowls and therefore, he dares to sell it. In response, Selva simply said,
“I don’t dare (to) eat this… I will upload this (video) onto Facebook.”

At the time of writing, the viral video has gotten over 3.1k shares and 747 comments. As expected, many Malaysians weren’t too pleased about the seller’s unhygienic practices and requested for the matter to be reported to the relevant authorities.
One netizen pointed out that rewashing the plastic bowls in water that was used to wash other bowls doesn’t really clean it. True!
Meanwhile, other netizens said that this is common practice and it shouldn’t be made into a big issue. According to them, they should just avoid going to these stalls instead of ruining their “rice bowl” by uploading a video onto social media. Do you agree with them?
On the other hand, one netizen pointed out that the next time, we should carry our own container when we buy food from stalls like this. Ah, sound idea!
We sure hope that the relevant authorities will look into this matter and come up with an appropriate solution. In the meantime, let’s try to avoid buying food from stalls/restaurants like this to stay on the safe side.
