Global icon and singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has been making waves across the world as she makes her way from country to country as part of her The Eras Tour music tour. Although the artiste did not make a stop in Malaysia, Swift allotted a whopping six days of her tour in Singapore. At this point in time, Swift has three more days of performances left before she departs the country.

However, one concertgoer in Singapore whose name is Jack, recently caught a moment from Swift’s tour that pleasantly surprised all the guests in attendance. Sharing the moment to his dedicated fan TikTok page for Swift called @casuallycruellll, Jack posted an instance where Swift decided to share an interesting yet personal fact about her family.

At one point during her performance, Swift spoke to the audience after singing a song titled Marjorie, which is dedicated to and written for her maternal grandmother. Moving on to reveal the fun fact about her mother, Swift shared that, for a period of time, her mother spent her childhood in Singapore.

“My mom actually spent a lot of her childhood with her mom, dad, and sister, growing up in Singapore actually. A lot of the time when we would come here on tour, my mom would take me and drive past her old house, and where she used to go to school. So, I’ve been hearing about Singapore my whole life,” said Swift while on stage.

Towards the latter half of the video, Swift asked audience members if they had seen her in previous concerts, or if this was the first time seeing her live. The majority of audience members cheered for the latter part of her question, before Swift expressed her gratitude towards them for taking time out of their evenings to attend her show.

In an article by The Straits Times, it was revealed that Swift’s mother, Andrea Swift (née Finlay), was a student at the Singapore American School between the years of 1968 to 1969. The report also went on to disclose that Swift’s maternal grandfather, Robert Finlay, moved his family to Singapore for a few years while working at an engineering company.

It was also stipulated that Swift’s grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, worked as an opera singer, even playing a role for a production at the Victoria Theatre, situated along Empress Place in the Central Area of Singapore.

Blowing the audience away with this news, many people were in complete shock over finding out that Swift’s family had resided in Singapore at one point in time. On the other hand, some said that she articulated her points gracefully and with much thought behind it.

This is vital information!” light-heartedly commented one user.
