Recently, a popular bubble tea chain in Malaysia received massive backlash from the public after a lady, Nabila Jalil, took to Facebook to expose how the company was unprofessional after she had submitted her job application.
Long story short, the beverage company, Tealive, did not give proper credit for the “work” she had done.
Here’s what went down:
Nabila was called in for an interview with Loob Holdings Sdn Bhd; and she was later told by the manager (the interviewer) that they wanted to give her a ‘test’. The test was to create three taglines for a Tealive promo; Jalil was little apprehensive about the test since they have not hired her yet.
“I felt something was wrong, because they haven’t employed, and it was an unusual interview procedure,” Jalil explained.
Nevertheless, she agreed to the ‘test’ in hopes that they would hire her before using the copy she submitted.

After submitting her work, Nabila received an email informing her that they wanted to use one of her taglines for Facebook and Instagram only. With the usage, they proposed to provide proper credits back to Nabila by tagging her FB account.
Nabila did provide her FB account name, but little did she know that they were also going to use that tagline for the print version too. It’s now in hardcopy!

Feeling shocked as there was no mention about the use for a print version, she confronted them by sending an email, to which they replied that they did not mean to do such a thing.
One other issue Nabila highlighted was how Tealive proceeded to post the images to their IG despite not being able to locate her account – hence not being able to tag and credit her properly.
Tealive insisted that they did try finding her IG but could not locate her handle, thus they did not tag her.

As for being credited on Facebook, Nabila did not receive any sort of compensation for providing the taglines.
“I don’t know, but don’t people usually get paid or at least get compensated for these things?” questioned Nabila.
Since the post went public, netizens showed their anger towards the unprofessional ethics displayed by Tealive.
“Tealive. More like stealive,” said one user.
“Apa maksud tak dapat contact then boleh lah suka suka guna hasil darah orang lain? Pandai buat cerita lepas semua hal terjadi,” said another netizen.
Since then, Tealive had issued an apology stating that they understood Nabila’s feelings over the matter and is looking to sort this matter out.
