If you’re still not in the holiday mood, do we have news for you!
Kedah and Perlis are reportedly experiencing a significant drop in temperatures, and it’s expected to persist for a few more days, according to the Kedah Meterological Department.
Temperatures in these two states have reportedly been between 22.6 and 23 degrees Celsius during the early morning, which is 10 degrees lower than normal, according to the New Straits Times.

This unexpected cool weather is reportedly due to a cold surge from the highlands in China in addition to the northeast monsoon wind, cold air advection, and cloudy weather in the northern Peninsular. Kedah Meteorological Department Director Rosli Zakaria told the daily,
“The temperature is still considered normal unless it dips to below 21 and 20 degrees Celsius.”
“The cool climate is likely to remain for the next couple of days and we forecast that the weather will return to the normal dry weather by then.”

However, temperatures are not expected to go below 20 degrees, which was the lowest recorded temperature in Kedah back in 2014.
Evening temperatures have also reportedly dropped from the usual 33 degrees Celsius this month, with recorded temperatures of 31.4, 31.6, 29.6, and 31.0 during the day and 27.0 degrees in the evenings.
So, if you’re travelling up north to these states, looks like you’ll be greeted by pleasantly cool weather!
