A 51-year-old woman was found dead in the kitchen of her rented home, with her head nearly severed. Her 11-year-old stepdaughter was also discovered lifeless in a pool of blood on the upper floor of the house.
The deceased’s brother, 60-year-old Bismi, said in an interview outside the Seberang Jaya Hospital morgue today that the family received the devastating news via a WhatsApp group at 7:30 PM last night (18 October), learning that their youngest sister had been murdered.
Bismi, who hails from Kedah, said he immediately contacted his in-laws in Penang to go to the scene and confirm the situation. Upon learning that his sister and her adopted daughter had indeed been killed, he rushed to the scene with his wife.
“When we were told about the tragic condition of the two bodies, I was truly heartbroken and angry. I can only describe the perpetrator’s actions as worse than those of an animal.”
He added that his sister had a son and two adopted children, one of whom was also killed in the incident. She was only 11 years old.
Bismi said their last meeting was at his sister’s son’s wedding earlier this year, and they last spoke by phone in June. His late sister, affectionately known as “Su,” was a kind-hearted person who never had conflicts with others.
“Su was always cheerful and enthusiastic. She never imagined someone would kill her so cruelly.”
“My sister had been married to her current husband for less than five years, so we don’t know much about her marriage,” he told Malaysia Gazette.
He hopes that his sister and her children will receive justice, and that the killer will be punished accordingly.
As of 19 October, the deceased woman’s husband has been detained by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to assist in the investigation. Police have yet to confirm whether he is the main suspect. He claimed to have discovered the bodies upon returning home and subsequently alerted the authorities.
