The World Electronic Sports Games (WESG) has once again come to South East Asia for its second season, with the Malaysian quarter of the national finals wrapping up just last month.
Players who have earned the right represent their home countries after meeting the requirements through the national qualifiers will compete against professional electronic athletes from all over SEA including Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos and of course, Malaysia!
Contestants are looking to win their share of 105,000 US Dollars (RM439,698) to be split among 4 categories, which are:
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Women
This year, the people behind WESG have changed things up as they’ve allowed each team to register with a maximum of two ‘foreign’ players.
The main event, World Electronic Sports Games Southeast Asia 2019 Regional Finals, will be happening from the 31st of October to the 3rd of November.
The final 2 days of the event will be open to the general public, so that everyone will not only have a chance to watch the Round Robin formatted matches but also to be awestruck by the opening ceremony at 12pm on the 2nd of November, which will include a live performance of their locally-produced theme song titled Awake ft Zya.
Besides that, WESG’s co-exhibitors, the Malaysian Esports and Gaming Fair (MSG) will be present during the extravaganza to conduct activities such as Patch Notes, a healthy gaming talk series recommended for both gamers and anyone else who is interested to learn about habits that can contribute to a healthier gaming experience, with topics such as:
Don’t Lose Your Hearing While Playing Your Games by Audiologist, Alleya Cheng
The Importance of Ergonomics For Esports Players by Senior Physiotherapist, Jeff Foong
Winning in Life & in Games: Mentally Healthy Gaming by Associate Professor and Program Director of Psychology, Dr. Anasuya Jegathevi Jegathesan
The whole purpose of WESG is to create a platform to foster young and talented players into becoming professionals. After all, the Esports community has officially become one of the biggest and most united groups in the world, and is known for championing the acceptance of individuality and can contribute to different aspects of society.
So Esports enthusiasts, don’t miss out! The World Electronic Sports Games Southeast Asia 2019 Regional Finals will go down on:
Date: 2nd & 3rd November, 2019
2nd of November, 9:30am onward
3rd of November, 10am onward
