Update January 4, 2018:

Since 2018 has arrived and we mentioned before that Genting Highlands would revise the parking rates, it looks like it has come true! From now onwards, when you are driving up to Genting then be prepared to pay on an hourly basis. Oh no! The charges for weekdays will start from RM2 per hour with a maximum charge of RM12 per day while for weekends and public holidays, the charges are RM3 per hour with a maximum rate of RM18 per day.

Aside from paying for toll and petrol when going up to Genting Highlands, it is pretty much free for you to just drive up on a whim to enjoy the cool air. Of course, if you decide to enter the casinos, that’s a different story!

However, if you are a frequent goer then we’ve got some bad news for you. According to Chinapress, the car parks in Genting Highlands will now start charging for parking. Uh-oh! The charges had already begun since October 1st for most of the parking lots, including hotels. Some of these hotels are Maxims, Genting Grand, First World and Sky Plaza.

Currently, the charges for parking at Genting Highlands start at RM5 per day on weekdays but during weekends and public holidays, the rate will be RM8 per day. Doesn’t sound very expensive at the moment right? Well, apparently it was reported that this rate is only temporary and will be revised by 1st January 2018.

However, if you are a Genting Rewards card member then you can still enjoy free parking until October 31st. After that, from 1st November to 31st December 2017, the free parking will only apply for members with a Gold card and above. Guess there will be lesser people driving up to Genting just to yum cha!

Here’s where you can park:

If you interested to upgrade your card to Gold and above for free parking and other benefits, you have to accumulate at least 500 Tier Points for Gold and 3,000 Tier Points for GoldPlus in the same calendar year.

It was also reported that Awana Car Park at Genting Premium Outlets have already started charging for parking awhile back but they are also waiving the fee if you are a Genting Rewards member. There’s currently no news yet on whether this car park rate would increase, but let’s hope it doesn’t!
