These Roads in Klang Will Be Closed From June 17-21 After Steel Truss at Jalan Meru Collapsed
Several roads in Klang will be closed and routes diverted from 17 to 21 June as debris from the collapsed steel truss at Jalan Meru needs to be cleared.
The incident happened yesterday (17 June) at the LRT3 project site opposite the TM Point outlet and near the Meru wet market, reported The Star.
According to North Klang OCPD Asst Comm Nurulhuda Mohd Salleh, these are the roads that will be closed:
- Jalan Meru from the Klang town centre heading towards Meru (with the alternative route being Jalan Meru to Jalan Sentosa 14 and back into Jalan Meru)
- Jalan Kedah junction heading towards Jalan Meru (with the alternative route being Jalan Kedah into Jalan Meru towards the Klang town centre)
Sunway Construction, the work-package contractor for the project, had contacted the North Klang traffic police at 6am to monitor the traffic condition in the area, ACP Nurulhuda said.
“No casualties or damage to public property has been reported; only damage to some construction equipment has been reported and losses are still being investigated,” she said.
Sunway Construction explained in a statement that the structure gave way when the crosshead concreting works were being carried out and that necessary measures addressing the incident had been initiated.
“We have cordoned off the area and our emergency response team (ERT) is managing traffic along with the traffic police,” they said, and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
Investigations are being carried out.
