We often see stray dogs and cats by the roadside and, to be honest, most of them are living in dirty conditions which will, in turn, make them sick. These cats and dogs are unlike us and their medical bills can get quite high.

In 2017, a young woman named Qill saw a sick cat. Being an animal lover, she wanted to rescue it so she brought it to the vet. The vet said that the cat had both jaundice and leukaemia and the treatment costs are very high. At that time, Qill really wanted to save it but she was unemployed.

Opek when he was still alive.

She didn’t have the heart to abandon the cat so she used her savings and her passion in the arts to make handcrafts and sell them to raise money for his medical bills. The cat was then given the name Opek and he managed to live a full nine months before he passed away.

Fueled by her successful rescue, Qill then managed to convince her friends to join in this little “club” of hers so that they can all help unfortunate strays. She told WORLD OF BUZZ,

“We don’t call ourselves rescuers as we only focus on helping rescuers raise funds. We usually use our profits (from the crafts) to buy food for strays & for neutering/spaying/deworming/defleaing/treatment.”

Cute and minimalistic tote bags that you can pair with almost every casual outfit!

Super sweet and simple cat charm bracelet.

Other than selling handicrafts, Bad Cat Club also welcomes pet food donation or other essential items for the animals. They will pass on the donated goods to the rescuers or any animals in need.

They may be based in Penang but they supply pet food to feeders in other states as well. So if you’re looking to be a feeder but you’re in another state, don’t worry as arrangements can be made! Just drop them a message on their Instagram page here. Text them too if you want to adopt some strays.

This little cutie here is up for adoption!

On that last note, Bad Cat Club would like to urge all Malaysians to adopt and don’t shop!

“The most important thing is for everyone to spay/neuter their pets as it can help control the population of unwanted animals and to reduce the number of dumped animals. If you want to own a pet then adopt and don’t shop.”

“We hope that everyone is willing to share some love for all animals especially the strays out there. Please don’t be cruel to them even if you don’t like them.”

Bad Cat Club will be at Hin Market, Hin Bus Depot in Penang this Sunday (26th July) from 11am to 5pm! There are no entrance fees as well! For more info, follow their Instagram page! But if all you want is to watch some cat videos, then follow Qill’s cat account!
