Looking after one another during tough times is a good sign of a caring and healthy community. During the Movement Control Order (MCO), many families are struggling to make ends meet and put food on their table.
In a true community spirit, a kampung in Sabah has taken the initiative to help each other out by providing basic necessities such as home-grown vegetables and fresh fish.
According to Harian Metro, this village is believed to be located in Kampung Pogunon, Penampang. The kind gestures of the community members went viral garnering over 4,000 shares on Facebook and has touched the hearts of many.
A Facebook page known as “Bosku Orang Sabah” uploaded a post earlier today (3 April) which shows pictures of the neighbours putting out their produce in plastic bags and leaving notes stating only one bag for a family.
These produce were hung over the fences and placed on tables for easy access. This clever strategy avoids unnecessary interaction in the midst of MCO.
The simple yet moving gesture has touched the hearts of many netizens. Social media users are praising the community members for their generosity and care towards the people around them.
The ability of Kampung Pogunon residences to help each other inspite of the MCO is truly inspiring and it shows that we can still help the society by practicing social distancing.
Spirit of togetherness is important in a community because this bond with others is what builds valuable relationships and gives us a deeper sense of belonging. We can overcome the threat of Covid-19 by playing our part in adhering the MCO and staying at home.
