As CMCO continues, many organisations are struggling to keep afloat as funds run dry. And so is the case for this Malaysian animal shelter, Mee Fah Shelter, as they appeal to the general public for donations and support.

On 10 November, Mee Fah Shelter uploaded a video onto their official Facebook page:

Give them a home

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!We are seeking the kind public’s assistance to raise funds in order to keep this dog shelter operating. Mee Fah Shelter has been self-funded and in operation for 10 years but is facing the possibility of closure as its funds continue to dry up. This will mean the loss of food and shelter for 3,000 dogs. Our only hope, is your generosity. You can help us by adopting or donating to our cause. With your help, we will be able to continue the good work here, and most importantly these wonderful creatures will not be homeless. Founded by 78-year-old Aunty Mee Fah who is now wheel-chair bound, the Shining World Compassion Award-winning animal shelter houses over 1,400 animals and is located in Semenyih, Selangor.

According to Supreme Master Television, Mee Fah had used her late husband’s inheritance to build and run this shelter after retiring from work. However, as times grow tougher, these funds don’t seem to be enough.

In the video, it mentions that the animal shelter requires RM80,000 a month in order to pay food bills and to pay the salaries of all 17 workers. Speaking with WORLD OF BUZZ, Mee Fah shelter has reiterated this, further mentioning that they’ve considered cutting down wages to continue maintaining the shelter.

They explain that this money is needed to “provide a shelter and simple meal to all the stray and abandon animals so that they have a second chance at life” as most of their animals may need to be put to sleep otherwise.

To avoid this outcome, Mee Fah shelter has since asked the general public on social media for donations, whether it be monetary or rice donations, encouraging Malaysians to adopt a dog or cat from their shelter for free as well.
