Following the recent Chikungunya outbreak in Hat Yai, every individual who wants to enter Malaysia from Thailand will have to go through a body temperature scanner before entering the country.

According to NST, the precautionary measure was implemented by the Perlis Health Department following the disease outbreak in the southern Thai city of Hat Yai.

Therefore, people who are entering Malaysia will have to pass through a body temperature scanner at the Padang Besar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex. Perlis Health Committee chairman Teh Chai Ann was quoted as saying,

“The situation is still under control at this stage, but the people have to be reminded constantly.”

On top of that, Teh advised fellow Malaysians who have recently taken a trip to Hat Yai to go for a medical examination to check if they have Chikungunya symptoms. If you have visited Hat Yai recently, you may want to take his advice!

FYI, some of the Chikungunya symptoms are as follows:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Fatigue

Keep an eye out for the above-mentioned symptoms!

If you didn’t know, the Bangkok Post reported on 13 January 2019 that there was already a Chikungunya outbreak in Hat Yai. Yikes!

Well, this is some concerning information! Don’t forget to share this article with everyone, so that they will be alerted about this issue. Stay safe, guys!
