In a report by the New Straits Times, Malaysia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry have received reports that three Malaysians were detained by the Greater Manchester Police.
The three Malaysians are students based in Manchester, U.K. and were brought in by police on Monday night (29th May). According to a statement released by the ministry, it read,
“It is believed that the students were brought to the Longsight Police Station in Manchester for questioning and all three were released at 9pm (local time).”

In light of this, the Foreign Affairs Ministry have advised all Malaysians living in Manchester to report to the High Commission of Malaysia in London.
The ministry’s statement also read,
“The ministry wishes to advise the public to remain vigilant and follow the instructions of the local authorities.”

The Greater Manchester Police are currently conducting a probe into the tragic bombing that happened in Manchester after a concert on the 22nd of May.
22 people including children sadly lost their lives, which brought the entire world together in mourning.
Salman Abedi was identified by authorities as the suicide bomber who set off the blast in the Manchester Arena on that fateful day, and was believed to have received terrorist training in Libya.

Since the horrific incident, 16 people have been arrested in connection with the attack and 14 people remain in police custody, according to the Straits Times.
Six Malaysians managed to escape the scene completely unharmed, according to the Malaysian High Commission in the U.K.
