A science invention by three Malaysian children, known as, ‘My Soil My Plant’ is now moving onto the final round after returning home with three gold medals during the preliminary stage of iCAN 2020 (International Invention Innovation Competition).
This soil invention tool is developed by three young scientists from SJK (T) Taman Melawati, Yuvika Mahaganapathi (10), Kavisha Nagarajan (11) and Kailesh Saravanan (11). They have incorporated aspects of computing, agricultural and environmental to their creation to teach people on selecting the best crops to be planted in soils, as reported by The Star.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, these students failed to present their innovation in Toronto, Canada. They had no choice but to demonstrate it on an online platform during the preliminary level. Discussions between the trio was done using Google Meet so they could plan and structure their ideas together. Their invention was one of the 500 innovations to get into the finals! Team leader, Kailesh, shared that it was because of the ICT skills they possessed that brought glory to the tool they developed.
Similar to the preliminary, finals on August 29 will also be conducted online for long-distance participants. Physical gatherings or functions like awards ceremony and exhibition will not be held.
Five months of hard work, one more step to go.
Let’s give them our full support as they will be stepping onto the final stage to showcase their work to the world!
