Remember that electricity in air, as your favourite DJ drops the beat on the fireworks that light the night sky as the crowd goes wild?
Unfortunately, that feeling is going to have to wait longer than the usual time span between music festivals and raves as the Covid-19 outbreak may pose a threat to festival goers all around the world.
Worldwide phenomenon, Tomorrowland’s 2020 winter edition has been cancelled to avoid a mass infection of the virus. The festival, which was set to happen on the 14th to the 21st of March at the French alpine ski resort, Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine Ski, had to adhere to the French government’s decision to ban all indoor gatherings of more than 5,000 people as part of an effort to subdue the country’s Covid-19 outbreak, as according to Billboard.
“Today, it is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you that the French government has decided to cancel this year’s edition. Since Saturday, we were in close contact with the French government about the impact of the COVID-19 virus (coronavirus) and we finally received their official decision. The French government is taking drastic measures regarding the COVID-19 virus in France. Therefore they are enforcing the cancellation of large events, bringing together people from different nationalities on closed festival grounds and event locations,” shared the Tomorrowland organisers on their website.
Artists such as Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Armin Van Buuren and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike were set to perform.
We genuinely hope the coronavirus gets blown away fast because a world with no live music is no world at all.
