Glad to know Malaysians are staying home!

It’s Day Two of the total lockdown and it seems like Malaysians are already obeying SOPs. Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin said that vehicle movement dropped around 70% on the first day of the total lockdown that started yesterday (1 June).

He hoped that the situation would continue as it would help the government’s efforts in flattening the Covid-19 infection curve reported BERNAMA.

The minister denied claims that roads were still crowded despite the implementation of the total lockdown. He explained that the congestion at roadblocks was to ensure road users followed the rules.

“During the first or second day, there might be some leeway as long as the road users inform us about their difficulties to obtain said permits.”

PDRM has also tightened its inspections at roadblocks across the country. The number of roadblocks has also increased involving 55,000 PDRM members and 800 roadblocks with two main concepts, fixed and mobile roadblocks.

A survey by BERNAMA found that most of the main roads in KL seemed deserted and businesses not listed in the essential list were also closed. Those who were travelling also had valid permits from their company that allowed them to operate.

How has the total lockdown been for you so far? Let us know in the comments section!
