If you’ve ever planned an overseas holiday before, you’d know how expensive accommodation can get, especially if it is located in a central or popular area.
The sprawling metropolis of Tokyo, Japan, for example is one travel destination that is priced on the higher end of the spectrum.
However, do not fret. With some cost-saving tips, most people will be able to travel to Japan if they really want to. It is about knowing where to look for the best deals and you’re in luck today because we just found one!
Kamal Zharif, a Malaysian living in Japan recently shared that he is opening his terrace home to Malaysians looking to travel in Tokyo.
“Anyone who wants to come to Tokyo, Japan and pay only RM48.13 to RM64.17 per night for a bed, you can come to my place,” he tweeted with photos of the rooms available.
What you get
There are a total of 5 rooms; some with bedframes and some without, but all the rooms have tatami mats. Although the rooms are small with only the most basic of amenities, they look super clean, cosy and aesthetically pleasing, like one of those MUJI Hotel rooms, except way cheaper.
Besides that, Kamal’s place also offers the convenience of 2 refrigerators for you to store your konbini (convenience stores) hauls and a small kitchen area where you can do some basic cooking or reheating of foods if needed.
As for the toilet, although also small, it is generously stocked up with toilet tissue rolls and has the cutest matching yellow wallpaper, floor mat and toilet seat cover!
Location
Now, the location. We’d be lying if we said that Kamal’s home is situated in a central location. It is not. In fact, it is in Urayasu, a city in the Chiba Prefecture, which is a 30-minute train ride to the Tokyo train station.
However, that is barely a downside because if you’re heading into the city, you can just wake up early and spend the 30 minutes in the train sleeping or enjoying the scenery before starting the day.
It is also not a long walk to reach any public transportation as Kamal’s place is near the Kasai station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line and has a direct bus to Narita Airport.
Most importantly, Urayasu is home to the world-famous Disney resorts, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea!
With such a clean space and short distance to public transportation, Kamal’s place is an absolute STEAL.
