If y’all think Tun Mahathir was behind the 20-hour-long raid in Dato’ Seri Najib’s house, think again.

This is because Tun M recently denied giving such an order to the police. The Star reported that Tun M said he wasn’t behind the police raid that was conducted in Najib’s private residence during the wee hours of the morning.

“I suppose the police had their reasons to conduct the raid. I don’t have the details.”

“The police have their SOP (standard operating procedure),” he said during a press conference at Yayasan Selangor.

The comment was made following the police raid conducted at Najib’s private residence in Taman Duta.

It was conducted on Wednesday (16 May 2018) with sixteen police cars and one truck seen outside of the former prime minister’s residence sometime after 10.30pm. It’s believed that the operation was conducted to remove documents that were linked to the 1MDB investigation.

The raid that started on Wednesday night ended yesterday (Thursday, 17 May 2018) evening. Well, that’s a pretty long raid, the house must be really big!

FYI, besides the raid at Taman Duta, raids were also conducted at Pavillion Residences (two locations), Seri Perdana, and also the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya.

On the other hand, Tun M had reportedly ordered the police to not be “overzealous” with their work. Thus, when asked about this directive he gave, he simply said,

“My instruction is very clear. I am not going to torture people and things like that.”

He further added that he only “wanted people to be treated decently”.

Meanwhile, when Tun M was queried if Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor will undergo investigations too, he responded that the police are required to investigate all criminal cases, regardless of who is involved.

Besides that, he also added that several ministries and government bodies like the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Audit Department will partake in the investigation.

On the other hand, Tun M, who is scheduled to meet Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Putrajaya tomorrow (19 May 2018), said that he would seek help for the 1MDB probe from Singapore if required.

On a side note, Tun M said the meeting between him and Singapore’s prime minister has no agenda set yet.

“If he raises any issue, we will discuss it but at the moment, I am still trying to figure out our stance with regards to certain issues which we have not finalised yet,” he explained.

Apart from that, Tun M also addressed the China-Malaysia work relationship during his press conference. He said that the federal government had made it clear that it was going to look into (thoroughly) all the contract signed with China.

He cautioned that Malaysia could experience huge debts that we can’t afford while adding that the “Government would respect all agreements”.

Well, there you have it! Tun M DID NOT order the two days long raid in Najib’s residence, that move was probably based on the police force’s SOP.

With that being said, let’s hope that the authorities responsible in investigating the 1MDB graft scandal will do their work fairly and appropriately.
