Two Thai fishermen were just caught red-handed in a video for illegally capturing 30 dolphins in Malaysian waters. Apparently, these dolphins would be later killed and made into dried meat. China Press wrote that the video was released by the Royal Thai Police and the Thai prime minister has ordered for the case to be investigated.
According to the report, the fishing boat which the Thai fishermen used is named “S Pornthepnawee 9”, but it had already sold been to a Malaysian man two years ago. Further investigation revealed that the fishermen – who are aged 56 and 49 years old – work together.
Tanachao, 56, is the employer of 49-year-old Shanti, who is Tanachao’s assistant. As of now, the two men have admitted to dragging 30 dolphins unto the boat. Oh dear!

While some of the creatures were released back into the sea, the remaining dolphins were slaughtered. The police are still trying to figure out the exact number of dolphins which were slaughtered and thrown into the sea.
If the men are found guilty, they risk being fined for no less than 300,00 Baht (RM41,273) or not more than three million Baht (RM412,793) under Article 145 of the Royal Fisheries Act. On top of that, they could face a jail sentence of more than two years.
