Previously, WORLD OF BUZZ reported that UMNO has called for the royal decree allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to serve his sentence under house arrest to be carried out after the addendum decree was confirmed valid.

UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the call came after the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) confirmed the existence of the Titah Adendum on July 10.

“The meeting is to pressure Anwar to enforce the royal addendum”

In response, UMNO division chiefs are set to hold an emergency meeting to pressure Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim into implementing the royal addendum allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest, as reported by the Malaysia Gazette.

According to an UMNO leader close to the former prime minister, the meeting is being held under the directive of each state’s UMNO liaison body, requiring all division chiefs to demonstrate their commitment to the cause.

“There will be a face-to-face meeting involving UMNO division chiefs from across the country at a hotel in Bukit Bintang. The gathering is a directive from state-level UMNO leaders, urging all division chiefs to unite and pressure Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to enforce the royal addendum without delay,” the UMNO leader said.

AGC challenges the procedure for submitting the royal decree

Earlier, it was reported that a Supreme Council member revealed all UMNO division chiefs nationwide are expected to gather in the capital this Thursday (July 17) to pressure the government into implementing the royal addendum.

The gathering follows the AGC confirming it does not dispute the existence of the royal addendum, believed to be a decree from the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, which allows Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

However, the AGC is challenging the procedure used to submit the decree as new evidence in Najib’s judicial review application at the High Court.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been serving time in Kajang Prison since August 23, 2022, after being convicted of misappropriating RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd. He applied for a royal pardon shortly after, on September 2.
