This is such a good initiative by the Malaysian government for all the unemployed or fresh graduate citizens out there!

When our Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the Penjana stimulus package a couple of weeks back, one of the areas that the additional economic package seeks to focus upon is the increasing unemployment rate. Hence, the PenjanaKerjaya incentive was created.

Short for Program Insentif Pegambilan Pekerja or Employees Recruitmant Incentive Program, this program is basically meant to:

  • Encourage employers to hire new recruits by giving governmental subsidies on wages.
  • These subsidies range from RM600 to RM1,000 per employee per month depending on which category they fall under (internships are also included!)
  • Creating a Malaysian database of unemployed and fresh graduates to match with vacancies.

This program will be handled by Malaysia’s Social Security Organisation or PERKESO, which is directly under the Ministry of Human Resources and will be rolled out starting tomorrow (15 June 2020).

Specifically, the PenjanaKerjaya initiative to help with the mass loss of income for Malaysians due to the spread of Covid-19 and the Movement Control Order enforcement.

Therefore, if you’re currently a fresh graduate (may it be from University, colleges or even schools) or are currently unemployed, or know of any individuals that are of the above, ask them to register through this online portal here.

For more information on the PenjanaKerjaya program and its full terms and conditions, you may visit the PERKESO website here.

Covid-19 has really impacted our nation immensely and hopefully these initiative could help those who have lost source of income to find employment!

As with any other economic stimulus packages, the most important part is not the funding itself but the mechanism in which the resources are distributed. Hopefully, the PenjanaKerjaya will be efficient to be able to reach out and help Malaysians that are in need.
