Police discovered the body of an unidentified man, believed to be in his 30s, in a ravine in Perak on July 12 (Saturday).

In a statement, Tapah District Police Chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said they received a call from a member of the public reporting the discovery of a male body in Kampung Batu 23, Jalan Pahang, Tapah.

He was found at the base of a 15-metre embankment

Police from Tapah IPD rushed to the scene and found the body of an unidentified man at the bottom of a 15-metre embankment by the roadside.

The deceased was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts, but no personal identification documents were found on or near the body.

A medical officer from Tapah Hospital later arrived and confirmed his death.

Personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department assisted in retrieving the body from the slope. It was then sent to the Forensic Unit at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) in Ipoh for further examination.

The post-mortem revealed signs of foul play

On 13 July (Sunday), a post-mortem conducted by a pathologist determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries caused by being struck with a blunt object.

Bruising was found on the back of the body, both arms, and the left leg. The deceased’s fingerprints were taken to determine his identity.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder).

“We urge the public not to speculate or act in any way that violates the law and may cause public unrest,” Johari Yahya said.
