Despite the extension of the CMCO, some citizens are still taking the relaxation of regulations lightly.
A netizen took to Facebook yesterday to share an alarming video that showed groups of people flocking towards what appears to be a Ramadan Bazaar in Desa Pandan, Kuala Lumpur without following any of the safe social-distancing guidelines given by authorities.
在kampung Pandan的Bazaar Ramadhan，很多人都是拥挤的出来购买食物，但却没有看到执法人员来管理，难道就不怕人传人吗？厉害👏👏

In the video, the netizen can be heard saying, “this is the situation at Desa Pandan. Ramadan bazaars are all open but the MCO is still going on. There are so many people.” (Update: DBKL has since released a statement clarifying that this was NOT a Ramadan Bazaar as said by the netizen. Authorities clarify that these are food stalls at the side of the road but many were crowding and did not adhere to the rules of social distancing.)
PENAFIAN BERITA PALSU YANG TULAR DI MEDIA SOSIAL
The video began circulating all across Facebook, even attracting the attention of authorities from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), who took to their Facebook page to address the matter.
“There was a video that went viral during the late evening on 11th May in Desa Pandan. It showed the public not administering by the rules of social distancing when buying food.”
However, the authorities assured netizens that they took care of the issue immediately after being alerted of its occurrence.
“The situation is now under control as supervision was enforced by DBKL authorities and PDRM.” Authorities also used the opportunity to advise netizens to be mindful of obeying CMCO regulations.
“The public is reminded to always maintain social distancing and hygiene wherever you go. We don’t always have to remind you as being responsible for your own self is something we should all work on together.”
Thankfully, the situation was handled accordingly. Be sure to practice social distancing wherever you go! We’re not in the clear just yet.
