Approximately 1.35 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes, according to the World Health Organisation, and sometimes negligence plays a big part in that number.
A little child was seen riding a kick scooter in the middle of a busy road in Singapore and was almost run over by a large lorry if not for a cyclist who quickly pulled the child to the side of the road.
A video posted on Singapore Roads Safety shows dashcam footage of a child, who looks like he could be around two to three years old, on a kick scooter right in the middle of the road. The timestamp on the video shows it was recorded on 15 May.
Any driver in a lorry would not have been able to see the child, but thankfully a man on a bicycle quickly stopped the child just as a lorry came zooming past them.
While other motorists slowed down for the cyclist and the little child, the cyclist picked the boy up, hoisted the scooter onto his bike and shuffled to the side of the road.
It is not known if the child was alone or if the parents/guardian was nearby, but it is absolutely irresponsible of them to allow the child to ride a scooter in the middle of such a busy road.
Parents, the safety of your child is your responsibility and to allow your child to be in such dangerous circumstances is absolutely ridiculous. The child doesn’t know better as he or she is still too young to think for themselves, so please take care of your children.
