Politicians are often accused of organising publicity stunts to make it appear as if they’re either doing something good or extremely popular amongst the masses.
A politician that has often been at the end of such claims is Muar MP Syed Saddiq.
Recently, a video of him on the LRT went viral on social media platforms as it left netizens debating on whether or not he was legitimately taking public transport or if it’s just a show.
In a video shared of the incident, a netizen praised the batik shirt he was wearing.
The video caught the attention of Syed Saddiq himself who urged members of the public to say hello to him and that batik is sexy.

“Why can’t other politicians do this?”
The short clip has gone viral on Twitter. Some netizens praised him for taking public transportation and urged other politicians to follow in his shoes.
“I don’t know if it’s genuine or not, but thank you for normalising this. Need more politicians to use public transportation and ensure their kids are educated in public schools”, suggested a netizen.
Meanwhile, one user hopes that all ministers will one day in the future only use public transportation. “Then there will no need to give way to them during traffic jams.”
Or is it just an act?
On the other hand, a handful of users accused Syed Saddiq of merely being involved in a publicity stunt and that it’s all just an act.
“Best actor… congratulations, hopefully you get to win at the Academy Awards 2023”, said a user sarcastically.
Another user made up what Syed Saddiq must have been thinking whilst on the LRT. “Please someone record me and put it on social media. If not me taking this LRT would have just been a waste.”
Meanwhile, some users dared him to take public transport during peak hours instead of non busy times.
