A few extra packs of ketchup and chili sauce at fast food chains are always free but recently, a Malaysian claimed that he had to pay for the condiments.
In a recent Facebook status, a man by the name of Saiful revealed that he had to pay a sum of RM10.60 for 10 packs of chili sauce that he got from McDonald’s Taman Buaya, Melaka.
“Life is tough! You need to pay for extra packs of chili sauce in McDonald’s now.”
Saiful also sarcastically pointed out that the fast food chain is taking a proactive step in accordance with the increase in rice prices.
In another Facebook post, Saiful also insisted that he did not visit the fast food chain just to buy the condiments, and uploaded the receipt for the meal that he bought from the place on the same day. He also emphasised that he just wanted “extra packs of chili sauce,” and had never been charged for the condiments at other outlets.
“I’m not a content creator or TikToker. I don’t get which part in my post have I said about going to McD just to buy chili sauce.”

Just last night (September 26), McDonald’s Malaysia responded to the viral issue via a press release on their FB page and shared their side of the story. The team admitted their mistake and said they unintentionally provided an insufficient amount of chili sauce, and the staff immediately provided more to Saiful.

However, according to McD, Saiful got verbally aggressive towards the staff and insisted on paying for the 10 extra packs of chili sauce, despite being told they were free of charge.
“The customer angrily insisted on being charged with the 10 additional packs of sauce.”
To ensure the safety of the crew, McD has lodged a police report. At the end of the statement, McD also assured everyone that chili sauce would always be provided to the customers WITHOUT any additional costs.
