If you’re running a food business, customers are likely to return and repeat order if your food is good. For a Malaysian TikToker and businesswoman who specialises in crepes, business has always been booming.
Some loyal customers were willing to line up for as long as 7 hours just to get themselves Kieda’s signature crepes. However, fate has arranged a huge test for Kieda recently when she had to suffer a loss in her business which amounted to nearly RM10,000. Regardless of how well you’re doing in your business, RM10,000 is still too much of a loss and there is no guarantee if you can make that much in a short period of time.
During the weekend, Kieda had the shock of her life when she found out the chillers at her central kitchen had malfunctioned. Hundred packs of crepes, which were ready to be sold were not kept under ideal temperature, and that caused the dessert to go bad and inedible. It’s unethical to sell food that has gone bad, so Kieda and her team had no choice but to bear the pain of discarding the desserts 1 by 1.
And it’s not just about the financial loss.
“It breaks me to see such a huge wastage. Everyone made it from scratch.”
Kieda cried when she recalled all her staff’s hard work and efforts in making the dessert. Despite the huge loss, Kieda remained positive, moved on with her business and together with her team, they made everything from scratch again so that their operations were not affected.
During the weekend, their store in Seberang Perai, Penang was opened to public as usual.
“Life is tough, so I can’t be sad for too long,” Kieda said in another TikTok post.
Among her fans, Kieda is known for her tight schedule and hard work as she does not only sell her crepes at her store but the team also travels around the country on a monthly basis to promote and sell their products.
