Road rage is getting out of control, and the perpetrator often lashes out at the target who won’t retaliate. Just recently, an uncle in Setapak went viral for slapping youngsters publicly in a dispute.
The dispute turned physical after the uncle claimed that the youths purposedly turned on their high beam to hurt his eyes. One of them called the police, to which the uncle said,
“Call the police. I’ll slap you everytime I see you,” he told the youths.
And the uncle got what he asked for. It didn’t take long for the police to catch the 54-year-old suspect and yesterday (October 20), he was brought to the Court where he faced 3 charges, to which he pleaded guilty.
He was also slapped with a fine of RM4,500.
The viral uncle was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code (intention to harm others), and Section 427 of the Penal Code. If found guilty, he could face up to 5 years of prison or a fine, or both, as reported by Sin Chew.
At the Court, his lawyer asked for a lighter punishment, on the basis that the man is the breadwinner of the family and has to raise a child. The suspect is also suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure, and is a patient of diabetes.
“He needs to take the medication regularly to control and maintain his condition,” his lawyer told the Court.
The court then sentenced the defendant to a fine of RM1,800 (1st charge), RM1,700 (2nd charge), and RM1,000 (3rd charge). Failure to pay the fine will result in imprisonment.
The incident took place in Danau Kota on October 14, where the defendant slapped a number of youths in a dispute. Two of the victims suffered injuries on the lips after the slap.
Violence is never the solution. It does not only create more problems but also paints you in a bad light.
