A dashboard camera footage of a road accident involving a Proton Wira and a white van was uploaded on Facebook yesterday and is quickly gaining attention. The incident reportedly happened in Cheras.
The video shows a relatively clear road on the slow lane from the driver’s perspective, with a white van driving up ahead. A few moments later however, a black Proton Wira can be seen speeding from the left on the emergency lane.
The Wira then tried to abruptly overtake the white van from the left side while still driving fast, causing it lose control and hit the white van.
The force of impact from the Wira caused the van to also lose control and flip upside down on the road.
It’s outrageous how these reckless drivers are only causing trouble for innocent Malaysians.
Photos of the incident have also surfaced, showing the damage sustained on the Wira’s front tyre and rim, while the white van appears to have suffered more damage, including broken windows and a damaged roof.
This video currently has over 155,000 views and 885 shares on Facebook. Needless to say, Malaysian netizens expressed their outrage at the Wira driver.
Some of them said that his actions were dangerous and that road laws needed to be stricter to avoid accidents like this from happening in the future.
No other cars were involved in the accident and the 60-year-old driver of the white van was taken to the hospital. Luckily, according to Free Malaysia Today, the driver only suffered from cuts.
We urge our fellow Malaysian drivers to be more careful and considerate on the road!
