After the Pakatan Harapan ministers declared their wealth to the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission), we learnt that some ministers make more dough than the prime minister himself.
However, not every PH minister seems to have a similar value of income and assets because recently, we learnt that Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department P Waythamoorthy’s assets are merely worth RM105,000 in comparison to the other PH ministers.
According to Malaysiakini, the minister also tried to send in his cars, which are a 10-year-old Nissan Cefiro and a six-year-old Toyota Camry, as assets but they were rejected by MACC.
He was quoted as saying,
“My office had sought clarification from the MACC as to the reason why my asset declaration column was left blank in the list of ministers who had submitted their declarations, which is open for public viewing.”
“I was informed that MACC does not regard cars as assets, thus the blank column.”
If you didn’t know, yesterday (10 November 2018), Waytha was questioned for the absence of information on his asset declaration on the MACC website.
In response to that, Waytha said that all of his income was spent to facilitate the fight for the Indian community. Right after that, BN-associated blogs took the liberty to publish details of the minister’s cars and claimed that he had failed to declare them.
On the other hand, The Star revealed that Tourism, Arts and Culture minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi also didn’t declare his assets because he didn’t have any to begin with. When asked whether or not he has a car or a house, he simply said,
“No, I’m poor.”
Well, those are some shocking information!
