The Minister of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), Nga Kor Ming, has been pretty outspoken about what’s been going on in Malaysia.

Sinar Harian reported that the Perak DAP Chairman recently expressed that he is fully open to receiving public criticism and feedback if he makes any mistakes.

“We need leaders who are ready to speak the truth”

Kor Ming said the days of a government acting like it knows everything are over since there are plenty of people out there who are smarter and more knowledgeable than civil servants or even ministers.

“As civil servants, we need to be honest and sincere, but we also need the courage to speak up when we see something wrong.”

He went on to explain that the real problem back then was that no leader or official in the government had the guts to speak the truth about the 1MDB scandal.

“As someone humble, serving the people and the country, and as a minister, if I make mistakes I believe we need leaders who are ready to speak the truth and learn from the 1MDB scandal.”

“Malaysia could’ve saved RM50 billion of the people’s money”

Kor Ming added that this eventually left all Malaysians carrying the 1MDB debt, something they’ll have to deal with like a “dead weight” until at least 2038.

“If that scandal hadn’t happened, Malaysia could have saved RM50 billion of the people’s money. That money could’ve been used to build things like schools, hospitals, mosques, suraus, kindergartens, toilets, and much more.”

He then went on to explain why it’s so important for him to be serving the people.

“That’s why it’s so important for me to be here, and not just sitting in the minister’s office waiting to entertain people, but I’m here to serve the people,” he said.
