A mother left home with her 6-year-old daughter, before jumping into the waters in Pulau Ketam, Klang with the latter this morning (August 6).

In a viral CCTV footage shared by a Facebook user, the woman was seen walking to the docks, with her daughter following behind around 6:23 AM. In another footage, the pair was spotted at the docks around 6:37 AM, and for about 4 minutes, the mum could be seen embracing her daughter before the recording skipped ahead to 6:44 AM, when the pair was no longer seen on the docks.

Former Chief Village of Pulau Ketam, Mr Chai, revealed that the mother and daughter had just reached Pulau Ketam last night (August 5), and believed that the pair came from Singapore. The pair checked into a hotel nearby. According to Chai, someone witnessed the duo jumping into the water.

In reports by Oriental Daily and Sin Chew, their bodies were successfully recovered at around 7 AM. Medical staff attempted to resuscitate both victims, but to no avail.

The mother also left behind a note and mentioned family issues in the letter.

“I’m leaving with my daughter today. I’m being selfish because I don’t want my daughter to lose her mother, because no one from my husband’s family can take good care of her.”

“All this while, I have been taking care of her,” the mother mentioned in the note.

The bodies of the two have been sent to the Klang General Hospital mortuary for autopsy. Mr Chai also said the police are currently investigating the matter. Currently, the police have not released an official statement about the case.
