However, it is best to weigh the pros and cons before doing any procedures to make sure that you have the results you want and always remember to choose a certified, experienced doctor. Recently, a 52-year-old woman tragically passed away after she went to a cosmetic surgery clinic in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong for some beauty procedures, SCMP reported.
She was only identified by her surname, Cheung, and the incident happened on Sunday (November 11) when the police received a call at about 5pm from Doctor Franklin Li Wang-pong’s clinic on Humphreys Avenue. Dr Li had started giving her botox injections but then Cheong suddenly fainted and became unconscious.

Dr Li tried to revive her with first aid but decided to call the police when the attempts were unsuccessful. Cheung was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in critical condition and doctors tried their best to treat her. Unfortunately, she was certified dead at 9.42am on Monday morning (November 12).
Police have opened an investigation into the case and a police source said that Cheung had actually received about 16 shots of Botox to her jaw, chin and above her brow. The authorities went to the clinic and seized evidence from there. It was reported that they interrogated Dr Li as well and at first, he said that she went there for her asthma treatment. After further questioning, he admitted that he gave her botox injections.

In case you didn’t know, botox, or botulinum toxin, is actually used to paralyse muscles to prevent wrinkles or slim down targeted areas. However, in severe cases of overdose or injections at the wrong position, it could prove to be fatal as respiratory muscles are paralysed, leading to difficulty in breathing or even death.
Dr Li had been struck off the register once for five months after a fatal liposuction procedure in 2003. He has since been taken into custody by the police for suspected violation of regulations on the use of dangerous drugs.
