Even though going to Singapore is quite an easy feat by land, it is still crossing the border and when doing so, there are many things that we’re not allowed to do.

Recently on 27 March, a woman in Johor wanted to buy KFC for lunch but she was unsure if she would be able to bring it into Singapore as she needed to cross the causeway afterwards.

So, she went on a Facebook group and asked the members if it’s allowed to bring fast food from Johor to Singapore, reported China Press.

There were many mixed reviews as some have said that it is not allowed while others have shared their success story.

The woman then took a chance and brought the chicken tapau along when she was crossing the causeway.

However, it seems that it was not meant to be as the customs officer had detained them and said explicitly that the chicken cannot be brought into Singapore.

So, she had to stand in front of the officers and devoured the 2-pieces of chicken; only then she was free to go her own way.

3 hours after the initial post, she updated how the chicken met their demise and the netizens were amused. Some of them said that it was lucky that the woman did not buy a bucket, if not, the chicken will be the officers’ supper.

Others had asked if there are KFC outlets in Singapore. To answer that question, yes, there are KFC outlets in Singapore, however, the price point is a little different.

A snack plate in Malaysia costs less than RM20 while a snack plate in Singapore costs SGD8.65 (RM26.87) as listed on their website.

Many have also said that this rule is not a new thing as Singapore is very strict with people bringing in food to their country. Only meat from specific countries is allowed to “enter” Singapore, as stated on SFA’s website.

Sometimes, even though it might be tempting to bring food items across the border, it will probably save us a lot of trouble if we didn’t do so.

What are some of the things that you have heard people bring back from their vacations? Let us know in the comments.
