It’s no secret that planning a wedding is notoriously expensive and it isn’t easy to pay for one, even with help from both sides of the parents.
You start planning a wedding with your partner and slowly you find that the amount you’ve saved up is not nearly enough. How lah?
Well, whatever you do, don’t ever follow in this couple’s footsteps. Recently on 13 April, the officers at Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem) at Danok, Thailand arrested a Malaysian couple who planned to smuggle and sell drugs across the border.
According to the Star, the couple wanted to sell the drugs to finance their wedding that was supposed to take place this year but the plan fell apart when the border officers caught them at the North-South Expressway near Changlun. Perhaps a better idea would be to hold an economical and simple wedding?
The authorities caught the suspects, consisting of a 24-year-old man who is allegedly the son of a policeman and supermarket manager in Penang, his 23-year-old fiancee and another 24-year-old female friend who was in the car with them.
Their car was searched and the officers found drugs such as Eramin 5 and ecstasy pills, syabu, and some marijuana, amounting up to RM10,000 in the car. The trio already had all the legal travel documents prepared and they were ready to enter Danok to sell off their drugs there.
The drugs were apparently gotten from a dealer only identified as Mid in Sungai Dua town. Bukit Kayu Hitam Aksem commander Mohd Khairi Abdullah has since confirmed the trio’s arrest and said their case would be handed over to Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department.
The three friends who came from Georgetown will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Remember, drugs are NEVER a good idea!
