Over the past week, you may have seen this promotion for free Air Asia tickets in conjunction with their 28th anniversary on social media. However, don’t be too quick to fall for it because it’s actually a scam!
According to the New Straits Times, two scams claiming to offer free Air Asia tickets to social media users have surfaced recently. In a statement by Air Asia, the scam is a link that directs users to a questionnaire.
One of the scams requires victims to answer the questionnaire in order to redeem vouchers.

Another scam has been widely circulating on Facebook that many users may have come across.
The scam claimed to offer 268 free Air Asia tickets in conjunction with their 28th anniversary and upon clicking it, the link also redirects to a similar questionnaire.

It is speculated that these scams may be trying to pry unsuspecting victims into giving out their personal details. And that’s very dangerous!
Of course, one way to determine whether a promotion is legitimate or not is by checking the URL of the promotion. If it’s not from the official website, then it’s most likely a scam.
According to a statement by Air Asia, they said,
“We would like to confirm that both of the social media posts are scams, which uses the AirAsia brand without authorisation to lure the public to participate in its scheme.”
“We strongly advise the public to disregard such scams and not to click on any links or to provide any personal details.”
“We will not hesitate to take legal action against individuals or groups who organise illegal schemes using the AirAsia brand.”
