With many clusters forming in schools and multiple schools closures in every state, the Ministry of Education will be taking action to ensure that the situation does not get worse after the Raya holidays.

Online classes will be held for two weeks after the Raya holidays so that the number of infections can be curbed. The online classes will be as follows:

  • 16 – 27 May (Group A: Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu)
  • 17- 28 May (Group B: Perlis, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Putrajaya)

The scheduling of online classes is structured in such a way that the students will be home for one whole month as it will fill the gap between the Raya holidays and the term holidays.

BERNAMA has also reported that students who are living in hostels operating under MOE will be able to go home to their hometown for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and they will have online classes during the two weeks period as mentioned prior.

As for now, physical classes will be continued as they are deemed “safe” by the Ministry of Health (KKM). The Ministry of Education will only close schools based on risk assessment by District Health Offices.

Students who are exhibiting  Covid-19 symptoms or those whose parents are in quarantine do not need to attend school.
